I’m on a mission to beat the world toughest diseases – one lap at a time.

This year, I’m taking part in the Perkins Plunge for a reason that is very close to my heart.

Cancer has affected my family in so many different ways. My daughter was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, a type of eye cancer at just 8 months old, and although she has thankfully beaten it, she still has ongoing appointments and check-ups. Watching your child go through something like that is something I will never forget, and I’m incredibly grateful that she is doing so well today.

My mum has also battled ovarian cancer and thankfully survived, and my family has experienced the heartbreak of losing my grandad to mesothelioma.

These experiences have shown me just how much cancer can affect not only the person diagnosed, but their entire family and everyone who loves them. That’s why taking part in the Perkins Plunge means so much to me.

I’m proud to be swimming alongside my family and friends  to raise awareness and funds for the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. I hope that by taking part, we can help support the incredible research being done to improve treatments, save lives and, one day, see a future where fewer families have to experience the pain that cancer can cause.
