Dollar match day

Thank you to everyone who answered my call to action, and sponsored me on the MinRes supported dollar-match day!

With your help, and the generous contribution of MinRes, I was able to raise over $2500 to support medical research!

The fundraising will continue and I can't wait to see how much further we can go!

As a T1D dad - I’m on a mission to beat the world toughest diseases – one lap at a time.

No one wants to hear those terrible words… it’s cancer… or it’s heart disease… or diabetes or worst still – we don’t know what it is.

And no one should have to see their loved ones’ suffering..

A little over a year ago, our lives were turned upside down when our son, Ollie, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes - an incurable genetic condition that means his body can't produce its own insulin. That is kinda a big deal because insulin is one of those tricky ones - Not enough insulin, he dies. Too much insulin, he dies... Medicine has come a long way in the last few decades, and we are able to ensure he lives a pretty normal life, with as few barriers as possible. He is an absolute trooper and is doing an amazing job adjusting to the new normal (hooked up to an insulin pump and blood glucose monitor 24/7, counting every carb, and walking a daily insulin/blood sugar tightrope).

He is my inspiration and the reason I'm taking part in the Perkins Plunge 12 hour swimming relay 22/23 Nov to support Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.
While we are doing well ourselves, and it is unlikely to have any direct impact on Ollie, please sponsor me and support my efforts to give back and change lives for others.
I’m swimming through the night to help WA’s best medical researchers. The funds I raise will support the brilliant minds at the Perkins who are committed to finding breakthroughs that will lead to breakthroughs and maybe even cures for the hardest-to-treat diseases.

Whether you join me in the pool (I’d love the company) or contribute to my fundraising page, your generous support matters now but, more importantly, safeguards our future health.

Together, we’re helping WA’s best researchers beat the world’s toughest diseases.
